Kyiv hit by heavy rain on June 8

On the afternoon of June 8, the capital of Ukraine was hit by heavy rain accompanied by hail, resulting in numerous consequences. Residents of various districts published videos showing flooded streets, fallen trees, and damaged electric wires.

At 17:20, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center issued a warning of a thunderstorm approaching, stating that the bad weather would persist until the end of the day on June 8 and into the night of June 9, with a level of danger of I (yellow).

The Ukrhydrometeorological Center emphasized the potential difficulties in operating energy, construction, and communal services, as well as problems with transportation due to these weather conditions.

The Kyiv City State Administration also urged residents to exercise caution during the storm. Citizens are advised to avoid being near billboards, large trees, and power lines and to refrain from parking cars in these areas.

In the event of flooding on roads and sidewalks, it is necessary to contact the dispatch service of the Kyivavtodor Traffic Control Center. If trees have fallen or branches are broken, it is required to notify the Kyivzelenbud emergency service. In cases where the situation is life-threatening, it is recommended to call for rescuers or medical assistance. For reports of faulty traffic lights or road signs, there are special contacts of the Traffic Management Center.
