Didn’t hear the signal: a train hit a man near Kharkiv
An investigation into a railway incident in Kharkiv Oblast, in which a commuter train hit a man, is ongoing.
The incident occurred on the morning of June 8 in the village of Pokotylivka. According to police, at approximately 09:45 on the tracks, a man who was too close to the tracks was hit by a passenger train.
The 51-year-old man was seriously injured and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the hospital. His condition is assessed as serious.
Law enforcement officers noted that the train was approaching the scene of the incident when the driver noticed the man. He did not respond to the sound signals, which led to the tragedy, despite the driver’s attempts to brake sharply.
The police are currently investigating all the details of the incident. They are also considering the possibility of opening criminal proceedings on the fact of injuring a person by rail transport.
