Seleznev entered into a language discussion with a young gamer-blogger, claiming to speak four languages
Language incident during a Media League match: Seleznyov responded to criticism from a young blogger.
Former striker of the Ukrainian national team and advisor to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Yevhen Seleznyov, became a participant in a language conflict during a match of the Ukrainian Media League. This incident occurred during a game between FC Armat, led by Seleznyov, and the Odesa Football Media Team.
Before entering the field, a 16-year-old player from Odesa and a popular blogger, Renat Popruzhny, asked Seleznyov to speak Ukrainian. This caused an emotional reaction from the football player, who stated that he knows several languages and decides which one to tell. Renat published a video of this moment on his TikTok page, which has approximately 800,000 subscribers.
The football player replied to the guy: “I forgot to ask what language I should speak. How old are you?” To which Popruzhny noted that he was 16 and asked if it made any difference. Seleznyov, in response, asked why the young blogger considered it necessary to teach him the language of communication, emphasizing that he would speak the language he wanted.
Other players intervened in the dialogue, but the situation could not be smoothed out. As a result, Seleznyov scored a hat-trick in the match, which was an essential contribution to FC Armat’s victory with a score of 4:3.
The football player did not comment on the incident but later published a video with the award, holding his son in his arms.
In the interactive environment, the situation sparked a lively discussion, with comments on TikTok divided. Some users supported the blogger with calls to speak Ukrainian, while others expressed indignation at the young guy’s behavior, declaring a lack of respect on his part.
We will also recall other language conflicts, in particular the case of a deputy of the Latvian Seimas, who was removed from the meeting after making an obscene gesture and speaking in Russian.
