Tea, apples, dark chocolate and grapes: foods to lower blood pressure
Health through delicious food is becoming a reality, as recent studies show. Scientists have found that tea, dark chocolate, apples, and grapes are rich in flavonoids, which help lower blood pressure and protect the heart.
A study conducted in 2025 and published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology indicates a connection between these products and the normalization of pressure in people with hypertension. Consuming flavan-3-ols can help reduce diastolic pressure by three mmHg and systolic pressure by six mmHg without the need for medication.
These compounds also help improve the flexibility of blood vessels, which in turn enhances the heart’s efficiency.
To obtain a positive effect, it is enough to eat two apples a day or drink a few cups of tea. A small piece of dark chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 75% will also be helpful.
Flavonoids for Better Health
These compounds not only normalize blood pressure but also reduce inflammation and protect the brain. A 2023 study found that berries have a positive effect on memory in older adults.
It’s easy to add foods rich in flavonoids to your diet: replace juices with green tea, opt for apples or berries instead of cookies, and choose a piece of dark chocolate instead of cake for dessert.
