Supermarkets have significantly raised prices for coffee, cream, and sugar – 500 hryvnias is not enough

Hot drinks, including coffee, are becoming increasingly less affordable for Ukrainians. To purchase a basic set of coffee, cream, and sugar, you will need more than 500 hryvnias, according to the Ministry of Finance portal.

The latest price updates in Ukrainian supermarkets have revealed that the costs of coffee, cream, and sugar have increased significantly.

Coffee

Retail chains have raised coffee prices, which will not please coffee lovers. For example, Nescafe Gold instant coffee has risen in price by more than 100 hryvnias – from 434 to 547.20 hryvnias for 210 grams.

Cream

Prices for Prostonashe 10% cream are now, on average, 35.40 hryvnias for 200 ml, representing a 40 kopek increase compared to last month. In some supermarkets, the price exceeds 38 hryvnias.

Sugar

The average cost of sugar has increased by 50 kopecks and is now 34.02 hryvnias per kilogram. In some stores, the price exceeds 37 hryvnias per kilogram.

It was recently reported that prices for vegetables and fruits may increase several times due to a possible shortage, according to warnings from farmers. It is also noted that beef has become a delicacy, and chicken prices now compete with those of pork.

In the future, Ukrainians may need to adopt a more economical diet, as further increases in food prices and the exchange rate may significantly impact family budgets.
