Ani Lorak has finally betrayed Ukraine: now she serves the interests of Russia

Ani Lorak, once one of the brightest stars of Ukrainian music, has reportedly received Russian citizenship. This passport, which attracted attention among fans, was issued to the singer on June 9.

According to sources from the celebrity’s entourage, she applied for new citizenship in February 2024, which is likely to be a lengthy and expected process for her. Lorak retained her real name, Karolina Kuek, in her passport.

Born in the Chernivtsi region, Ani Lorak gained popularity in Ukraine, particularly by representing the country at Eurovision in 2008, where she secured an honorable second place. At the beginning of her career, she also received the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine. However, after the Revolution of Dignity and the onset of hostilities, her career in Ukraine changed – Lorak continued to perform in Russia, celebrating essential moments of her life on this stage. The singer has not appeared in Ukraine in the past few years, partly due to the pressure she has been under there. In 2021, she announced her return.

With the start of the full-scale invasion, Lorak continues her musical activities in Russia, participating in TV shows while seemingly oblivious to the circumstances in her native homeland. She has never called Russia an aggressor.

In 2024, Ani Lorak lost her status as a People’s Artist of Ukraine.
