Veterans will receive financial assistance: who will receive payments and for what

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted new rules for providing financial compensation to veterans for renting housing. This decision applies to individuals who have been released from captivity or are temporarily residing in other regions of the country. The changes contained in the new resolution will simplify the process of receiving these payments.

According to Resolution No. 252 of the Cabinet of Ministers, which determines the procedure for financial assistance to persons defending Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity, veterans can submit their documents to veteran policy units or through administrative service centers (CNAP) at their place of residence.

A precise mechanism has been established for transferring documents from the CNAP to organizations dealing with veterans’ issues, as well as for notifying applicants of the results of considering their applications.

Former police officers and rescue services who did not receive the status of a combatant or do not have a disability as a result of the war are required to submit copies of their military registration document and order on dismissal from service.

Who can receive compensation?

Defenders of Ukraine can expect to receive compensation if:

Their housing is destroyed or damaged due to hostilities,

they live in temporarily occupied territories or zones of active hostilities,

they are undergoing rehabilitation at a distance of more than 15 km from their registered place of residence.
The amount of compensation will be:

6,056 UAH (2 subsistence minimums) for Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, and Odesa;
4,542 UAH (1.5 subsistence minimums) for regional centers;
3,028 UAH (1 subsistence minimum) for other settlements.
If the rental period is less than a month, compensation will be calculated in proportion to the number of days of stay.

Required documents for application:

Copy of passport,
Taxpayer identification number,
Information certificate from the State Register of Property Rights,
Report of inspection of damaged housing,
Military registration document,
Certificate of a combatant or a person with a disability,
Certificate of no criminal record,
Lease agreement by the Civil Code.
New initiatives are also reported, offering payments of UAH 70,000 to military personnel in July and the possibility of monthly compensation for caring for relatives.
