Princess Diana’s dress, thought to be lost, sold in the US

At Julien’s Auctions, Princess Diana’s dress, created by the Bellville Sassoon brand, was sold for a record $520,000. The new owner of the outfit was Renee Plante, curator of an online museum dedicated to Lady Di.

The bidding started at $150,000 but eventually ended at $350,000. Ultimately, Renee raised a sign with a bid of $400,000. Taking into account the 27% commission, the final amount reached $520,000. When the results were announced, Renee screamed with emotion and even fell to the floor.

According to the buyer, this dress offers exceptional value to her. Firstly, it was considered lost for a long time. Secondly, it was this dress that Diana chose for her first meeting with Renee.

The dress is made of blue crepe de chine and decorated with floral ornaments. It was called “Caring” because the princess often wore it while visiting hospitals and nursing homes.
