New round or decline? Expert shares forecast for food prices this fall
Consumer prices in Ukraine may stabilize or even decrease in the fall of 2025, provided that favorable weather conditions prevail in the summer. This information was announced by Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, during an airing on Hromadske Radio.
The number of vegetables and fruits on the market, as well as the overall dynamics of prices, depend on weather conditions. In the event of a good summer season, Ukrainians should expect a decrease in inflation and more affordable prices for products.
Usually, a large number of seasonal products enter the market in the summer, which contributes to a decrease in prices and a slowdown in inflation. A similar situation was observed in 2023 when the harvest allowed inflation to be maintained at 5–6%.
However, last summer, conditions were not the best, which affected the growth of prices. Food inflation in mid-2025 reached 15.9%, and the cost of the main range of products increased by more than 20%.
“Whether prices will remain stable and how comfortable the situation will be in October this year will depend on summer weather conditions,” Pendzin noted.
