Катерина Котенкова про можливе підвищення тарифів в Україні через російські обстріли

Kateryna Kotenkova on a possible increase in tariffs in Ukraine due to Russian shelling

The head of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine, Andriy Novak, believes that the situation with tariffs can be revised. He emphasizes that although the government promises to maintain the current tariffs for the next heating season, the instability in the country during the war creates risks. In the event of an escalation of hostilities, tariffs for gas, electricity, heat, and water may change, according to journalist Kateryna Kotenkova.

Andriy Novak also drew attention to the recent success of the SBU, which caused significant damage to Russian military airfields. In response, the enemy may threaten massive bombing of Ukrainian territory, which endangers domestic energy infrastructure facilities, the journalist notes.

If the attacks continue, says Kateryna Kotenkova, the restoration of energy facilities will require substantial financial costs that are not included in the current year’s budget. In the event of a pessimistic scenario, additional borrowing or a revision of tariffs may be required. There is a possibility that tariffs may still increase, even if the government assures citizens of price stability in the next heating season.
