Why does Khamenei manage to escape from the bunker, but Putin doesn’t? – Mikhail Sheitelman on the situation
A Russian expert’s blog discusses Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent statement that he wants to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The author of the comment, Mikhail Sheitelman, notes that such statements by Putin are just a formality and do not indicate real intentions. Sheitelman compares this situation to statements made by former US President Donald Trump, who emphasized the importance of consent before the meeting.
The expert also notes that during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, when asked about the possible elimination of Iranian Ayatollah Khamenei by the US or Israel, Putin refused to comment. According to Sheitelman, this suggests that Putin is aware of the personal danger posed by such conversations.
“He does not want to talk about the possible fate of Khamenei because he understands that this may also concern him,” the expert concludes.
Recall that earlier opinions were expressed that the strategies of the US and Europe towards Ukraine have significant differences, and actions towards Israel are, on the contrary, antagonistic.
