З 1 липня 2025 року в Україні зміниться напруга в електророзетках: що це означає для громадян

From July 1, 2025, the voltage in electrical outlets will change in Ukraine: what does this mean for citizens

As of July 1, 2025, a new voltage standard for electricity networks will be introduced in Ukraine: 230/400 V, replacing the previous 220/380 V. This innovation was approved by a resolution of the National Commission, which regulates the energy and utilities sectors.

These changes raise several questions among electricity consumers. The primary objective of transitioning to the new standard is to align Ukrainian standards with European standards and enhance the integration of our energy system with the ENTSO-E network.

The National Commission for the Regulation of Electricity and Utilities also emphasized that the new standard allows voltage fluctuations within -10 to +10% of the norm, i.e., from 207 to 253 V. If these indicators are exceeded, consumers are recommended to contact the condominium association, management companies or electricity suppliers, such as DTEK. The company undertakes to eliminate malfunctions within 15 working days.

DTEK representatives reported that the transition to the new 230 V voltage standard will not require replacing the electrical wiring; however, owners of old apartments should still have their wiring checked. Despite concerns about possible breakdowns of household appliances, most devices are designed to operate at a voltage of 230 V or higher. The new regulations will also reduce the need for stabilizers, contributing to savings and lowering electricity losses.

As for electricity bills, the change in the standard will not affect their calculations since payment is made for the kilowatt-hours used, not for the voltage value. DTEK noted that “voltage is simply the level of “pressure” in the system,” so there will be no changes in bills.

Additionally, the increase in the standard voltage will not affect the use of electrical appliances, allowing consumers to continue using their necessary devices without issues. However, during peak load hours in the morning and evening, it is recommended to reduce the network’s load by turning off powerful devices at other times of the day. This will help ensure the stable operation of the power system.

Earlier, Ukrainians, even those who pay on time, began to be disconnected from the electricity supply in large numbers, and daily power outages have become a common occurrence under the restrictions.
