The SBU detained the animator who was the FSB agent and planned explosions in Kharkiv

The military counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine has discovered and stopped a series of planned sabotage in Kharkiv, which threatened the city. During the precaution, the FSB agent was detained, which led to the blasting of critical energy facilities.

According to the press service, the attacker was a children’s animator from Kharkiv who was recruited by the Russian special services due to acquaintances living in Russia. After recruiting, he was tasked with producing and installing a homemade explosive device on an energy entity that provides electricity to one of the urban areas.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a man during the production of explosives in his apartment. Additionally, it turned out that he had recorded the location of Ukrainian troops and visited children’s holidays – this became part of the “test” task aimed at checking his ability to engage in more complex sabotage.

If the first planned explosion were to occur, the attacker intended to attack other energy infrastructure in the city.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized parts for the manufacture of an explosive device, a tablet, and a phone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy, as well as objects with pro-Kremlin symbols, including a Ukrainian passport in the cover with a Russian tricolor.

The detainee was charged under Part 2 of the Article. Article 111 of the Criminal Code (State betrayal in the conditions of martial law) threatens him with life imprisonment and confiscation of property.

The operation was conducted by the SBU investigators in the Kharkiv region with the support of the regional prosecutor’s office.
