Drug dealer detained in Chernihiv region – son of Pryluk leader

In the Chernihiv region, law enforcement officers detained a suspect in the illegal sale of drugs. The detainee’s name is Yaroslav Popenko, the son of Pryluky Mayor Olga Popenko.

The police of the city of Pryluky received evidence that Popenko was systematically engaged in the sale of narcotic drugs. During a search of his home and car, substances resembling cannabis, as well as amphetamine and methadone, were found. In addition, drug paraphernalia and other materials indicating illegal activity were found.

Law enforcement officers recorded several cases of illegal retail sale of drugs. Yaroslav Popenko was detained by Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the seized substances were sent for examination.

The case is being investigated under Article 307, Part 2, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to the illegal sale of drugs, punishable by a term of imprisonment of 6 to 10 years with confiscation of property.

Olga Popenko, the city mayor, expressed disbelief in the charges against her son in a comment, noting that this may be related to her activities in office.

Yaroslav Popenko has previously been involved in situations related to offenses. He had a conflict with an activist, and a few years ago, was detained for drunk driving after an accident with an electric pole.
