Pensioners may not be aware: the state has introduced new benefits for the elderly that will help them save money
Despite the challenging economic conditions in the country, the state continues to support labor veterans, offering them a range of social benefits in 2025. Among these benefits are free dental prosthetics, priority access to medical care, and housing assistance. Information about this was provided by the Department of Social Protection of Sumy Region.
According to Ukrainian legislation, the status of “labor veteran” is granted to several categories of persons. These include pensioners who have the “Labor Veteran” medal, as well as people with group I disabilities in vision or from childhood, and those who retired after working in harmful or complex conditions.
Separate groups comprise men with at least 40 years of experience and women with 35 years of experience, who have already retired. Among the recipients of the status are also people with specific medical diagnoses, as well as pensioners with group I or II disabilities, who have more than 15 years of experience.
To obtain the status, please contact the social security authorities at your place of residence with an application, a 30×40 mm photo, and a certificate from the Pension Fund confirming your seniority.
Among the main medical benefits that veterans will receive are:
Free annual examination;
free dental prosthetics (without expensive prostheses);
priority hospitalization;
services in medical institutions where the person was treated before retirement.
Veterans will also have the right to housing and land benefits, including:
exemption from paying land tax;
priority right to receive housing or a construction loan (up to 10 years in installments);
provision of firewood or other fuel;
allocation of plots for gardening or horticulture.
Also guaranteed is sanatorium-resort treatment or compensation if the veteran purchases a voucher independently.
Veterans are also entitled to preferential travel, but this benefit is contingent upon the family’s income level. If the average monthly family income does not exceed the established level, it is preserved.
We remind you that you can be left without benefits for utilities if you receive assistance; clarifications from the Pension Fund of Ukraine are already available. Earlier, we also considered the question of what to do if the meter “winds” a lot of electricity, as well as an important resolution for pensioners regarding the return of their payments.
