The director of the Kozak sports school is accused of embezzling 750,000 hryvnias while children are playing sports

In Kyiv, the director of the municipal institution “Kozak Comprehensive Children’s and Youth Sports School” has been charged with embezzlement of almost 750 thousand hryvnias, the Podilskyi District Prosecutor’s Office of the city reported.

This school is subordinate to the Department of Youth and Sports of the Kyiv City State Administration. The investigation revealed that the head of the institution had agreed with a contractor to carry out significant repairs to premises in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv.

However, part of the work that was to be performed under the contract was not carried out. Despite this, the official signed the acts of work performed, which indicated unreliable data regarding the cost and volume of repair work. The prosecutor’s office employees believe that the director acted intentionally, in collusion with other persons, pursuing his interests.

After signing the documents, the money was transferred to the contractor in full, resulting in a loss of almost 750 thousand hryvnias from Kyiv’s budget.

Juvenile prosecutors qualified the suspect’s actions under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for embezzlement of property through abuse of official position, committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy, on a large scale, during martial law.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect faces imprisonment.
