Proposal to abolish mass mobilization: MP proposes new strategy for conscription of men
Ukraine has the opportunity to reduce the number of soldiers who voluntarily leave their units by changing the approach to mobilization. A more effective measure would be a recruiting system.
Mazurash criticizes the existing mobilization model and proposes to move from mass conscription to targeted recruitment of motivated soldiers, focusing on improving the army through the latest technologies.
“Only a careful selection of capable people, both physically and morally, who can defend their homeland, can yield positive results. Those who are not ready to serve for various reasons should be involved in work in the rear and the economy,” the deputy noted.
According to the plan, in Ukraine, men aged 25 to 60 who are recognized as fit for service are subject to mobilization. The organization of the mobilization process is handled by territorial recruitment centers that are part of the Land Forces.
The Ministry of Defense has introduced a new recruiting project for the Armed Forces of Ukraine since November 13, 2023. This project allows conscripts to independently choose specific units and positions where their skills can be most useful. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky has already ordered the creation of recruiting departments in each brigade.
