SBU prevented the contract killing of the commander of the “Da Vinci Wolves” Filimonov: who turned out to be the killer

The Security Service of Ukraine successfully prevented the contract killing of the commander of the 108th separate battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, “Da Vinci Wolves”, Serhiy Filimonov. According to the investigation, the assassination attempt was planned by the Russian FSB.

The SBU report notes that to carry out the crime, the Russian special services recruited a resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region, posing as an employee of the Ukrainian special services.

SBU spokesman Andriy Dekhtyarenko reported that a new tactic of the Russian special services is currently being observed, when they recruit agents under false flags, giving them tasks that supposedly serve the interests of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, an ATO participant from Kamianske believed that he was carrying out an order of the SBU to neutralize an enemy force adjuster. His goal was to be a Ukrainian military commander.

In particular, the man received a call from an FSB representative who introduced herself as an employee of the SBU. She tried to convince him that the online store where he had previously ordered medical supplies was financing the Russian military, accusing him of “high treason” and reporting a possible criminal case against him.

To exert psychological pressure, the FSB sent him a fake summons to be questioned by the SBU, offering “cooperation” in exchange for closing the chronicle against him. The man was sent a questionnaire for joining the SBU and given instructions to come to Kyiv.

Dekhtyarenko noted that the recruiters tried to manipulate the patriotic feelings of the Ukrainian, who sincerely believed that he was helping his country in the fight against the enemy. In correspondence with the supervisor, he expressed his readiness to sacrifice his own life for the sake of destroying the invaders.

Upon arrival in Kyiv, the young man was instructed to rent an apartment in a residential complex where, according to the FSB agents, a Ukrainian serviceman they were planning to kill lived, and to watch Sergei Filimonov’s car.

The FSB supervisor presented the Ukrainian serviceman as a “traitor” who was accused of carrying out attacks on Kyiv. During one of the massive shellings of the capital, the FSB agent claimed that the “object” he was monitoring was responsible for this.

As a result of the special operation, two FSB agents were detained who were planning to carry out explosions near the regional territorial recruitment center in Mykolaiv.
