Season the canisters and create stocks: gas stations can significantly raise gasoline and diesel prices

Until the end of the summer in Ukraine, there will probably not be significant fluctuations in fuel prices. However, with the beginning of autumn, a sharp rise in gasoline and diesel prices can occur. This can happen if the United States decides to impose new sanctions against Russia. This was stated in an interview by the chairman of Prime, Dmitry Leushkin.

According to him, there is no reason to expect sharp changes at this time. In the next few months, the situation will remain stable.

The expert explained that in early July, Ukraine experienced temporary difficulties with fuel supply due to the Danube’s grounds, which disrupted logistics processes. This led to a slight increase in prices: gasoline and diesel went up by about 3 hryvnia, and gas by 1.5 hryvnia.

Additional pressure on the market was created by the situation with Ukrnafta, which began to buy fuel from private suppliers actively. Earlier, this company obtained fuel mainly from the Kremenchuk refinery, which Russia repeatedly attacked. Purchases are now made from companies such as WOG and OKKO, which have changed the competitive conditions on the market.

Currently, it is noticeable that fuel prices are being reduced. However, if the United States imposes new sanctions, the cost of oil can rise to $80-85 per barrel, which in turn will lead to a rise in the price of gasoline and diesel at Ukrainian gas stations by about 10 UAH per liter. According to Leushkin, Russia remains a key supplier, which is quite challenging to replace, so a possible rise in the price of fuel is a real scenario.
