Jealousy led to an explosion: a man in the Kyiv region used a grenade against a rival
In the village of Landy, in the Obukhiv district of the Kyiv region, a man, who was in an emotional crisis due to jealousy, attacked his rival by throwing a grenade into his yard. The explosion damaged the victim’s car, as well as the windows of a private house and the facade of an outbuilding.
According to the Kyiv region police, a 23-year-old attacker drove a VAZ car to the home of a 21-year-old man whom he suspected of having an affair with his girlfriend. The man committed the offense by throwing a grenade over a fence towards the victim’s BMW, after which he disappeared from the scene.
Law enforcement officers quickly identified the suspect. As a result of a search of his home, the car in which he was traveling was seized. Police officers detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and he is currently in a temporary detention center.
Investigators charged him with intentional damage to another’s property by explosion under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The man faces up to 10 years in prison for this crime.
