DeepState: In more than a thousand days of war, Russia occupied less than a percent of Ukraine’s territory

In Ukraine, the losses during the war are significant, but the advance of enemy troops has been limited: since November 2022, only 5,842 square kilometers have been occupied.

Analysts from the DeepState project reported that in 1,010 days of a full-scale invasion, Russia was able to capture less than one percent of the territory of Ukraine.

According to their estimates, as of November 12, 2022, 108,651 sq km were under enemy control. Today, this figure has expanded to 114,493 square kilometers. Thus, since November 2022, Russian forces have managed to capture 5,842 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which is 0.97% of Ukraine’s total area within internationally recognized borders.

Analysts noted that the enemy achieved the greatest successes in the first days of the invasion. However, thanks to the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the north, as well as in the Kharkiv and Kherson regions, significant territories were regained.

After November 12, 2022, the enemy continued offensive actions with interruptions, and these attempts are still ongoing. For example, in the fall, Russian forces tried to advance in the Bakhmut area.

DeepState analysts expressed hope that their data would be taken into account by Ukraine’s American partners, noting that sometimes their assessments of the situation on the front do not correspond to reality.

Also, according to the GUR, Russian forces have begun to actively shoot fake videos about the “capture” of Ukrainian settlements. Small military groups with Russian flags are attempting to infiltrate the rear of the Defense Forces, where they stage performances that are presented as genuine successes.
