Ukrainians are being prepared for difficult compromises in war: one should not count on the 1991 borders

The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Danilo Hetmantsev, stated that Ukraine is prepared for any format of negotiations that could lead to an end to the war. He provided this information in an interview.

According to Hetmantsev, real demands from the Russian Federation have already appeared in the negotiations, which have also become known to the United States. He believes that this can serve as the basis for potential agreements.

Hetmantsev emphasized that the primary goal remains achieving peace. However, he warned the public that one should not assume the possibility of a quick restoration of Ukraine’s borders to their 1991 borders. “This is unlikely. We will have to go through difficult compromises, but without them, the future of our country will be at risk,” he emphasized.

Earlier, CNN presented an analysis of five possible scenarios for the end of the conflict after the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. Of these, only one was assessed by experts as positive for Ukraine, emphasizing that the implementation of any scenario is not possible without the active participation of the Ukrainian state itself.

It was also mentioned that some experts predict that negotiations on ending the war could begin by the end of autumn this year.
