Attack on military commissars and a police officer in Kharkiv: suspect arrested

A 36-year-old man was detained in Kharkiv for attacking a police officer and three employees of a territorial recruitment and social support center.

This information was confirmed by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Novobavarsk District Prosecutor’s Office. According to the investigation, the incident occurred on August 14, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., when a law enforcement officer approached the man to check his documents. In response, the attacker pulled out a knife and stabbed the police officer in the temple.

After that, he injured three employees of the center: one was stabbed in the head and arm, another in the head and subclavian area, and another was wounded in the torso. The attacker tried to escape but was quickly detained by law enforcement officers. The court decided to take him into custody without the possibility of bail.

All victims received the necessary medical assistance and were hospitalized.

The man was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, including encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer and attempted murder of two or more persons in connection with the performance of their official duties. He could face up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The investigation is ongoing, conducted by the investigative department of the Investigative Division No. 1 of the Criminal Investigation Department No. 3 of the Main Directorate of the Kharkiv Region Police Department.
