The Space Weather Prediction Center, which operates under the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has presented new information on solar activity. According to the current forecast, no severe magnetic storms are expected on August 23 and 24, 2025.
Magnetic storms arise as a result of active processes on the Sun. Their strength is measured using the K-index, which ranges from 2 to 9. The higher this indicator, the greater the impact on the Earth’s magnetosphere and human health.
Forecast for August 23
On Saturday, the Earth’s magnetosphere will demonstrate stability without significant disturbances and magnetic storms. Solar activity is expected to remain at normal levels, which will have a positive impact on human health and the operation of technical systems, including power grids and satellites.
Forecast for August 24
On Sunday, the situation will remain the same. The magnetosphere will be calm, and the probability of magnetic storms is minimized. This is considered a positive factor for people who are sensitive to changes in space weather.
Experts emphasize that forecasts of magnetic storms can be adjusted because solar activity is monitored in real time. The data is updated every three hours, and the most accurate forecasts relate to the next day.
Impact of magnetic storms
Most people overlook the calm magnetosphere. However, during intense storms, some people may experience weakness, headaches, pressure fluctuations, and sleep disturbances. Magnetic storms can also affect the operation of satellites, communications, and power grids, so regular forecasts serve to take into account possible changes promptly.
