Independence Day payments: what to do if you didn’t receive assistance

Ukraine has already provided one-time financial assistance for Independence Day in 2025 for most citizens.

Pensioners received funds along with their pensions, military personnel through their military units, and other citizens applied to the Pension Fund to accept payments to their bank accounts. In total, more than 1.1 billion hryvnias were allocated for these needs for 975,500 people.

Payments are made in accordance with the decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers – resolutions of December 27, 2023, and April 29, 2025. They regulate the procedure and amount of cash assistance for veterans, victims of Nazi persecution, and other categories of citizens. The Pension Fund of Ukraine emphasizes that persons who were entitled to this payment but have not yet received it can follow a specific procedure.

First, you need to check your category. Pensioners should have received their payments along with pension accruals. Military personnel receive funds through military units that submit applications. If you do not belong to these groups, but are entitled to receive assistance, the money is paid after submitting a personal application to the Pension Fund.

It is also essential to adhere to the deadlines. Applications could be submitted until August 1, but the deadline has been extended to October 1. If the money does not arrive after that, the Pension Fund recommends resubmitting the application, and funding should be provided by November 1.

It is worth noting that the assistance is assigned only to those who acquired the status of a war veteran or defender of Ukraine by August 24 of this year. Those who received the status later will not be eligible for this payment.

If the application was not submitted by October 1, it is necessary to re-issue the documents. This also applies to those who were supposed to receive funds together with their pension or through their employer.
