Poland in ensuring the security of Ukraine: important in uniting decisive forces

Deputy Minister of Defense of Poland, Pawel Zalewski, stressed that the country will play a key role in ensuring Ukraine’s security, providing strategic infrastructure and logistical solutions. However, Polish troops are not planned to be involved in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine.

According to Zalewski, given the growing threat from Russia and Belarus, Poland will not send its troops to Ukraine. Instead, its role in the “coalition of the determined” is to support European forces, as well as to ensure the protection of airspace after the end of active hostilities.

Poland will work on creating bases and logistics for military units in Ukraine, organize their logistics, and provide airports for aircraft that will ensure Ukrainian defense, Zalewski noted. He also stated that without Poland’s participation, the implementation of security guarantees would be impossible, so the country’s contribution is critically significant for the future defense system.

According to the Financial Times, Western allies have already developed a preliminary security plan for Ukraine in the event of the end of the war, which includes the creation of a demilitarized zone under the control of neutral peacekeepers from other countries.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the leaders of the “coalition of the determined” will soon meet to discuss guarantees for Ukraine’s security in the context of the peace process. Poland is also enhancing its border control capabilities; for example, a new complex for checking vehicles and cargo has been installed at the Medyk checkpoint.
