Українка поділилася, з чим їй складно адаптуватися в Німеччині, і це не лише мова

A Ukrainian woman shared what makes it difficult for her to adapt in Germany, and it’s not just the language

Life in another country often seems ideal, but the reality can be completely different. This is especially true when it comes to the differences between habits at home and new conditions abroad.

Olga, a Ukrainian who has been living in Germany for several years, shared her impressions of the difficulties she has to face in a new country.

Language

Learning German is not easy, and the dialects used locally add new difficulties. Because of this, the Ukrainian woman faces challenges in communicating with the locals.

The problem of a large number of Russians

According to Olga, the significant number of Russian-speaking people in Germany sometimes makes their lives difficult. She notes that she often hears the opinions of people who arrived many years ago, and this can be unpleasant. She mentions that she cannot always do anything about it.

Products in stores

It is worth noting that the range of products in Germany differs significantly from that in Ukraine. Olga notes that she can’t always find the foods she’s used to, so her diet has changed: “Some things I’m used to are missing here, but there are mangoes and avocados,” she says.

Fashion

Olga notes that the style of Germans is different from what Ukrainians are used to, and sometimes it’s surprising.

Personal boundaries

Germans have a clear idea of personal boundaries, but, according to Olga, sometimes this borders on the general inviolability of personal space. She also shares that she doesn’t always understand the specifics of German humor.
