Tax evasion scheme in Khmelnytskyi region: beauty salon became a factory for fake documents
In the Khmelnytskyi region, a 56-year-old resident opened a beauty salon where he made fake documents, including certificates and pension certificates, that allowed people to travel abroad illegally. Together with his accomplice, he organized an underground business for those who tried to evade mobilization.
According to the investigation, the men equipped the salon with special devices for printing and laminating documents that gave the right to leave Ukraine. The accomplice robbed clients and taught them how to act at the border, and also provided them with fake documents that looked like real ones. One of the clients was detained by border guards while trying to leave the country.
Law enforcement officers searched the suspects’ homes and cars, as well as several places of their registration. As a result of the police’s actions, the suspects were charged with illegally organizing the smuggling of people across the state border and making fake documents. If convicted, each faces up to nine years in prison with confiscation of property.
