The head of Desnyanskiy district named the subway project to Troyeshchyna unfulfilled
Maxim Bakhmatov, the head of the Desnyansk District State Administration of Kyiv, has announced that the subway will not be implemented in Troyeshchyna, as there is no modern project currently underway.
Bakhmatov summed up his first hundred days in office, outlining the main transport calls of the area. On the air, he stated that the idea of building a subway in Troyeshchyna will remain only in plans, because there is no current project.
According to the official, one of the first measures taken by his team was organizing the conference, which experts from the World Bank and specialists in the field of urban transport attended. The discussion revealed that the Desnyanskiy district lacks a developed transportation strategy.
Bakhmatov emphasized that discussing a possible subway in the area remains only a promise. “There will never be a subway in Troyeshchyna, since there is no project,” he added. It is worth noting that the new bridge, which was built, initially provided a place for the metro track; however, the project itself remained at the level of plans from the Soviet era.
The official explained that the bridge, valued at more than UAH 20 billion, has been under construction for decades and remains incomplete. Even in the case of completion, this does not guarantee the launch of the subway. Bakhmatov noted that problems arise not only because of outdated planning, but also because of other factors. Part of the route runs near reservoirs and territories that have undergone significant changes over the past 40 years. New buildings and residential areas have emerged, further complicating the construction process.
“When the project is 40 years old, the city is also changing. Suppose they attempt to implement the 40-year-old bridge project as part of an effort to build a subway. In that case, it turns out that there are already new buildings, nature and climate have changed,” – said the head of the Desnyansk Regional State Administration.
Bakhmatov described the idea of building a metro as a “great deception.” He stressed that even if several billion euros were available to complete the project, today’s state priorities are entirely different due to the war.
Maxim Bakhmatov previously worked as a producer at the Ukrainian Comedy Club and also held the position of CEO of the Kiev VDNG, advising Vitaliy Klitschko. He is currently headed by the Desnyansk Regional State Administration, which encompasses the largest residential area of the capital, Troyeshchyna.
Recall that during the presentation of the quarterly report of the Desnyansk Regional State Administration, there was a dispute between Maxim Bakhmatov and the deputy of the KSCA chairman, Anna Starostenko.
