New recalculation of payments: will pensioners be comforted by the end of the year?
In 2025, Ukrainian pensioners will have already received two critical updates to their pension payments. First, in March, a large-scale indexation was carried out for more than 10 million people, and later, the pensions for working citizens were revised.
According to information provided by the Pension Fund of Ukraine, pension indexation, as per current legislation, can only occur once a year. This means that no further changes in pension amounts are planned until the end of 2025.
However, specific categories of senior citizens continue to receive monthly allowances:
Pensioners aged 70-74 – UAH 300;
from 75 to 79 – UAH 456;
80 years and older – UAH 570.
Additionally, the state provides support to single pensioners who require external care in the form of a separate monthly payment of UAH 944 (40% of the subsistence minimum). This benefit is intended for citizens aged 80 years or older who live independently and have obtained appropriate medical certificates.
Thus, although no new indexations are anticipated in 2025, pensioners can expect additional payments that will partially offset their expenses.
Recall that previously, information sources reported on new requirements of the Pension Fund concerning pensioners, as well as the possibility of suspending payments in cases of insufficient service length.
