Occupiers killed parents in Donetsk region, girl in the hands of invaders

Russian soldiers continue to violate international norms by committing new crimes in Ukraine. In the village of Shandryholove, they killed a family and used a minor girl as a cover for their attacks in the Lyman direction.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, declaring another war crime committed by the occupiers in the Donetsk region. According to him, during the assault, the soldiers shot the parents and took their child with them, using her as a human shield during the offensive.

A video has appeared on the Internet, which allegedly contains a radio interception of negotiations between Russian soldiers, in which the commander orders his subordinates to “kill everyone indiscriminately.”

According to the information received, the soldiers broke into a private house, where they shot the parents, and then kidnapped the girl. This phenomenon causes outrage, since the use of children in military conflicts is absolutely unacceptable.

Such actions violate international humanitarian law and the rules of warfare outlined in the Fourth Geneva Convention. The killing of civilians and the use of children for military purposes is a war crime and a crime against humanity without any justification.

Dmytro Lubinets noted that he had already appealed to international organizations to assess these actions. Official letters were sent to the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Ombudsman emphasized that the international community must promptly respond to Russia’s actions and take appropriate measures.

Let us recall that recent events in the region emphasize the seriousness of the situation, as this is not the first time that the Russian military has violated human rights and international norms in war.
