Irma Vitovska, Volodymyr Dantes and Vasyl Baydak became the voices of ”The Blue Trail” – premiere in Ukraine

The film, which received international recognition at the Berlin Film Festival, is preparing for a Ukrainian release. Famous artists and several “folk” voices will create a local atmosphere, and the premiere is scheduled for the end of October.

The idea of ​​showing “Blue Trail” in Ukraine arose during the recording of the “Tseivo” podcast, when Vasyl Baydak spoke with the program director of “Arthouse Traffic,” Ilya Dyadyk. Baydak was interested in purchasing the rights to the film, and Dyadyk recommended it, noting that the cost is about a thousand dollars.

The team is currently working on Ukrainian dubbing and preparation for distribution. “The film may go unnoticed due to the lack of famous faces, but we are making every effort to attract as many viewers as possible to watch it,” says Baydak.

The film will be released in cinemas on October 30, and its screening will begin at the 9th Kyiv Critics’ Week festival, which will be held from October 16 to 22 at the Zhovten cinema in the capital.

The voices of the main characters will be provided by Irma Vitovska, Volodymyr Dantes, Vasyl Baydak, as well as dubbers Ivan Rozin and Lyudmila Ardelyan. In addition, several cameos will be added to the dubbing: Ukrainian viewers will hear Amil and Ramil Nasirov from the Kurgan & Agregat band, presenter Serhiy Likhovyda, singer and model Dasha Astafieva, and comedians Slava Kedra and Yuriy Karagodin.

A “people’s casting” was organized for one of the key roles, which allowed 70-year-old Olena Stukalova from Mykolaiv to be chosen to voice the main character’s companion. “I used to work at the State Archives of the Kherson Region and created TV and radio programs. I have excellent diction and am fluent in Ukrainian. I really love dubbing in Ukraine!”, – shared Ms. Olena.

Baker Street Sound Studio is creating the Ukrainian version of the dubbing. The official trailer of the film is already available.

“The Blue Trail” is a fantastic adventure film about Brazil in the near future. The government relocates older people to isolated colonies so that the younger generation can devote itself to development and productivity. The main character, Teresa, who is almost 80 years old, decides to resist the system and sets off on a journey through the Amazon to fulfill her last wish.

The world premiere of the film took place at the Berlin Film Festival, where the film won the Grand Prix of the Silver Bear Jury and the Ecumenical Jury Prize. The film received high ratings from critics and audiences: 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.3/10 on IMDb, and 3.7/5 on Letterboxd. The specialized publication Screen International recognized it as the best film of the Berlinale according to film critics.
