The West is studying the possibility of creating air defense for Ukraine

In response to the growing threat from Russia, leading Western politicians are calling for the creation of an air defense system in western Ukraine. Such a move could be an essential step in a new approach to protecting the entire country, including its capital.

Western leaders and military experts are increasingly discussing the need to step up military support for Ukraine by building an air shield to protect the western part of the country. The idea is to deploy air defense systems that can detect and destroy Russian drones and missiles before they harm critical infrastructure or populated areas.

According to the initiators’ plans, such a system could cover border regions where the presence of Western military or equipment is limited and the risk of confrontation with Russian forces is low. The main goal is to demonstrate readiness to respond to air threats that go beyond Ukrainian interests alone.

In the future, the concept of air defense may be extended to central Ukraine, including the capital. This issue is being actively discussed against the background of an increase in the number and scale of attacks on Kyiv.

A similar approach has already been used to protect Israel, where NATO fighter jets intercepted Iranian missiles and drones. However, experts point out that Russian launches occur from deep within the territory, and therefore, the risk of Russian military casualties in this scenario is minimal.

This initiative holds significant military and political importance, as it can demonstrate the willingness of European countries to bear responsibility for the continent’s security, given the US’s preoccupation with domestic affairs and new priorities in its foreign policy.

In addition, the creation of an air shield will strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, relieve its air defenses, and save many lives. At the same time, it sends a powerful signal to Moscow: if the Kremlin intends to blackmail the West, then the West is also ready for decisive action.

Discussion of this initiative is expected to be one of the main topics at the upcoming meetings of European leaders in Copenhagen.

In addition, there are reports of the possible formation of sabotage groups by Russia, together with Belarusian and Russian military personnel, to infiltrate Poland to attack the country’s key infrastructure.
