What to do when voltage fluctuations occur in the power grid: useful tips from DTEK
Many Ukrainians experience an unstable electricity supply, especially after Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. DTEK experts have given some advice on such situations.
If you have problems with electricity, it is recommended to contact a qualified electrician. He will conduct the necessary measurements in the general panel (both with and without load), which will allow you to identify malfunctions and suggest ways to eliminate them. After completing the application, a special team will send an application to your residential building for inspection.
New voltage standard in Ukraine
From July 1, 2025, a new voltage standard of 230 V will be introduced in Ukraine. The National Commission made this decision for the Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NKREKP) as part of adaptation to the requirements of the European Union. The country’s energy system has been operating in synchronous mode with the European one for more than three years, so this step is an essential stage in accordance with international standards.
The permissible voltage deviation is 207-253 V (±10 %).
Experts advise taking these indicators into account when setting up a voltage relay, if such equipment is in your home. It is worth noting that modern household appliances work effectively within this voltage range.
Suppose the voltage values systematically exceed the specified limits. In that case, that is, they fall below 207 V or rise above 253 V, the consumer has the right to apply for checking the parameters.
