Scandal continues: Russia is looking for former adviser OP Arestovich
Former advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovich, became the object of a search by the Russian authorities just a few days after a controversial interview given to Russian TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak. In the interview, he expressed the idea that he was ready to cede four Ukrainian regions and Crimea for the sake of peace.
This was reported by the Russian agency TASS, referring to Ukrainian Telegram channels. Arestovich criticized individual Ukrainian politicians and emphasized the need for changes in foreign policy. According to him, the plan he proposes involves the mutual destruction of the threat from both states and the implementation of symbolic steps, such as joint prayers and commemoration of the dead.
On October 3, 2025, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs declared Arestovich wanted for an unknown criminal article. He was previously included in the list of “terrorists and extremists” of Rosfinmonitoring due to his anti-aggressive statements.
In an interview, Sobchak Arestovich, answering a question about the territories, said: “I am ready to give up four regions and Crimea, without recognizing them as Russian, on terms similar to those that existed between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR.” He also declared his readiness to withdraw troops and establish a new demarcation line to establish peace.
Alexei Arestovich emphasized that his peace plan is based on the principle of reciprocity and the prevention of any threats to Ukraine from Russia, as well as on the prevention of military conflicts between the peoples of Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.
