Preparing for a harsh winter: Naftogaz describes the necessary actions for everyone
Naftogaz has shared tips for the public on preparing homes for the heating season and reducing risks in the event of a possible energy crisis. The information was published on the company’s official Facebook page.
Experts note that timely preparation will not only save resources but also help avoid accidents and interruptions in the heating system during the coldest days of winter.
The main recommendations include:
Checking the heating system. It is recommended to perform technical maintenance on boilers and heaters before the start of the season to prevent breakdowns at a critical moment.
Pay attention to batteries. Radiators should be clean and not covered by furniture to evenly distribute heat throughout the room.
Room insulation. Check windows and doors, eliminate gaps, and install seals or other heat-insulating materials to reduce heat loss.
Ventilation control. Even in the cold season, it is necessary to ensure the flow of fresh air. This is important for comfort and safety, especially when using gas appliances.
In addition, specialists from “Gazmerez” warned Ukrainians about the dangers of using a gas stove for heating. They emphasized that gas stoves and ovens are not intended for heating premises and can pose a threat to health and life if used for other purposes.
“With insufficient oxygen, carbon monoxide is formed, which quickly accumulates in the body and can cause symptoms such as headache, nausea, dizziness, and even loss of consciousness,” they noted.
Information about earlier changes to gas payments also appeared; some consumers will have to pay more. There are also problems with payments being overstated. Some Ukrainians may suffer from cold batteries this winter.
