Taylor Swift sets new record for weekly album sales
Taylor Swift’s album “The Life of a Showgirl” has set a new record, becoming the most successful music release in the United States in its first week after its release. In just five days, more than 3.5 million copies were sold.
This figure allowed Swift to surpass the record set by Adele, whose album “25” in December 2015 sold 3.482 million copies in its first week of sales.
According to information, on the fifth day of sales, “The Life of a Showgirl” reached 3.2 million physical copies. For comparison, in 2015, “25” sold 3.378 million copies during the same period. In both cases, physical albums became the central part of sales.
Such impressive figures are due to a large number of pre-orders and a powerful advertising campaign. Swift regularly releases new versions of the album, both in CD form and digitally. Some digital editions include bonus acoustic tracks and are available exclusively through her official website for the first 24 hours after release.
With this album, Taylor Swift also surpassed her own previous record. Her previous best start was with The Tortured Poets Department, which sold 2.61 million copies in 2024. The new edition surpassed that result by almost 600,000 in just five days.
