Phase Zero of the War in Europe: Official Explains Possibility of Land Invasion

In the program “World on the Edge,” expert Mykhailo Podoliak stated that there is currently no global war. He noted that there is now a zero phase of the conflict on the European continent, including Ukraine. Podoliak emphasized that Russia is aware of a strategic window that allows it to use methods that would not be possible under other conditions, such as simulated attacks on civilian and commercial infrastructure, ports, and defense enterprises. This phenomenon is noticeable across much of Europe, particularly in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. If the situation is not stopped at this stage, the first phase will begin, involving a land invasion, not across the entire territory of Europe, but only in certain countries.

According to the expert, Russia seeks a redistribution of regional influence, the restoration of the Soviet Union, and a return to the 1997 NATO borders. He noted that the current circumstances lack deterrent factors, which may lead to further escalation of the conflict.

According to Podoliak, the war has become Russia’s only competitive advantage, as it no longer has any significant trade opportunities. Russia, in his opinion, will continue to use violence. If earlier it tried to disguise itself under democratic principles and adhere to certain international norms, now it is returning to its original state, in which violence is dominant.

However, according to the official, Russia lacks the resources to start a real-world war, since its military technologies are outdated, and the war against Ukraine has dispelled many myths about its power.
