A girl from Odessa set fire to a Volkswagen for money, but did not receive any reward

In Odessa, law enforcement officers found a 15-year-old girl who set fire to a car for a reward. The incident occurred in the evening in the private sector of the Peresypsky district. The car owner, upon noticing the fire, put it out himself and contacted the police.

As it became known from sources in the Odessa region police, the teenager agreed to carry out the task for an anonymous customer who contacted her via messenger, promising 300 hryvnias. She bought gasoline, doused a Volkswagen Transporter car with it, and set it on fire, filming the process on video. However, the customer did not like the video report, and during the next attempt, the girl was detained without paying.

The head of the investigative unit, Valentina Istomina, noted that the girl caused significant damage to the front of the car, the amount of which is currently being determined. Law enforcement officers seized a bottle of flammable liquid and a phone with correspondence.

The girl has already been charged under Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns intentional damage to another person’s property by arson, which is punishable by up to ten years in prison. A pre-trial investigation is underway under the control of the Peresyp Prosecutor’s Office, with the involvement of operatives from the territorial unit and the criminal investigation department of the Main Department of the Odessa Region Police.

Law enforcement officers urge people to be careful about dubious offers on the Internet and report them to the emergency number 102. Parents are advised to monitor their children’s leisure time and explain to them the consequences of illegal actions.
