Operation in the forest: Budapest-Kyiv train detained in Zhytomyr region due to information about mining

On October 12, an international railway line in Ukraine was halted after an anonymous report of a possible mine. A passenger train traveling from Budapest to Kyiv was stopped near the village of Razine in the Zhytomyr region.

The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. The train was stopped in a field, not at the station, and people were asked to leave the cars and wait for the inspection, which, according to preliminary estimates, could last several hours. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene urgently, organized an evacuation, and waited for the arrival of explosives experts.

The weather complicated the situation – it was raining and windy, so law enforcement officers ensured the comfort of passengers, including women with children, by providing them with temporary shelter in company cars. The wait lasted for over an hour while the inspection was ongoing.

At 7:20 p.m., passengers were allowed to return to their cars. Railway officials said the train would continue after the inspection was completed. Zhytomyr regional police confirmed that they had received information about the mine. The investigation and operational group, along with explosives technicians, completed the inspection of the carriages at around 7:30 p.m., without finding any dangerous objects.

After the inspection, passengers returned to their seats and the train resumed. Information about this incident also appeared on several Telegram channels, indicating that many children were given seats in police cars during the inspection.

A new route, “Kyiv – Bucharest,” was launched on October 10, departing from Mogilev-Podilskyi and running daily, carrying about 50 passengers, mostly Ukrainians.
