Pedro Pascal, Jamie Lee Curtis and Mark Ruffalo join No Kings protests

Celebrities, including Pedro Pascal, Kerry Washington, and Glenn Close, have been vocal in their support of the “No Kings” protests held in more than 2,700 cities across the country on October 18.

Thousands of peaceful rallies were held across the country on that day, bringing people together to defend democracy and free speech and to oppose authoritarianism. The protest drew significant attention from celebrities and artists, sources said.

In Los Angeles, Pedro Pascal posted a photo of the rally on Instagram with the caption: “DEFEND #Democracy.” Kerry Washington also expressed her support, calling for unity and thanking everyone who came to the rally. Murray Bartlett, star of “The White Lotus,” wore a hat with the protest’s symbols.

In Chicago, John Cusack said Trump would not be able to turn the United States into a fascist state. In Washington, Bill Nye sharply criticized the president for his attempts to restrict free speech.

Carrie Coon, an actress from The Gilded Age, stressed the need to raise the voice of the people. Glenn Close posted a photo with a “No kings” sign and said she was proud of every protester’s participation. Comedian Kathy Griffin shared a video from a march in Malibu, where slogans about democracy were heard.

Spike Lee urged his followers to “stand up,” and Jimmy Kimmel published a list of ironic nicknames for Trump that were on protesters’ signs. In Los Angeles, newly elected WGA West President Michelle Mulroney urged artists to use their voices and not remain indifferent. In general, many other celebrities participated in the protests, such as Cecily Strong, Jamie Lee Curtis, Margaret Cho, Billy Eichner, and Mark Ruffalo.
