BMW overturned in Odessa region: seven men fled abroad

In the Rozdilnyanskyi district of the Odessa region, border guards discovered a BMW X5 car heading towards the border with Moldova. The driver, upon noticing law enforcement officers, tried to escape but lost control of the vehicle, resulting in an overturn into a ditch.

The incident occurred near the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. During a routine patrol, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine observed a car approaching the state border.

When the driver saw the border guards, he accelerated sharply. But this escape attempt ended quickly —control was lost at high speed, and the car ended up in a ditch, overturning on its side.

There were seven people in the car, including the driver. All of them received various injuries. Border guards provided first aid to the injured and called an ambulance.

According to preliminary data, these individuals were likely trying to cross the border between Ukraine and Moldova illegally. It is known that they contacted the administrator of one of the Telegram channels and paid over 25 thousand US dollars to a cryptocurrency wallet for “help” in crossing.

For this money, the organizer provided them with a car with Romanian registration, on which Ukrainian license plates from another vehicle were installed.

All participants in the event were subject to administrative protocols under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses – “Illegal crossing or attempt to cross the state border of Ukraine illegally”. The case materials have been sent to court.

Recently, the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the SBU and the Internal Security Department of the State Border Guard Service, exposed a border guard inspector in Transcarpathia who, for a monetary reward, facilitated the illegal crossing of the border by conscripts and also smuggled cigarettes to Romania.
