VAKS seized Zakharchenko’s assets worth over UAH 400 million

The State Bureau of Investigation has secured the return of the assets of former Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko to state ownership. The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has upheld the Ministry of Justice’s claim based on data from the State Bureau.

According to the court’s decision, six real estate objects were transferred to the state, including two apartments in Kyiv, corporate rights, and funds in bank accounts. The total value of the confiscated property exceeds 400 million hryvnias.

This sanction was applied in accordance with Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions”, which aims to prevent the use of assets of persons whose activities pose a threat to national security.

Vitaliy Zakharchenko is a suspect in several criminal cases currently being investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation. He is charged with high treason, organizing a criminal group, abuse of office, and legalization of illegally obtained funds.

During the pre-trial investigation, investigators discovered and seized the former official’s property totaling about 1.4 billion hryvnias. Work is ongoing to recover other assets.

The former minister is currently on the international wanted list and, according to investigators, may be in Russia.
