В Польщі узгодили можливість складання матури з української мови

Poland has agreed on the possibility of taking the Ukrainian language exam

The Embassy of Ukraine in Poland has announced that Ukrainian will be included in the list of foreign languages that can be chosen for the “matura” – the key graduation exam. This decision will come into effect from the 2025-2026 academic year.

According to the embassy, Ukrainian will become one of the official languages for the state exam in Polish schools. This innovation is a significant step towards the recognition of the Ukrainian language in the Polish education system.

Schoolchildren will have the opportunity to choose Ukrainian as an exam subject, which will support the development of bilingualism and improve language skills. The exam will be based on basic and advanced levels, including the assessment of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Embassy representatives emphasize that choosing Ukrainian for the matriculation exam symbolizes respect for Ukrainian culture and identity. To include Ukrainian as a subject for the matriculation exam, students need to contact the teacher or coordinator responsible for the exam.

The new rules will come into effect in the 2025–2026 academic year.
