Scientists have revealed when and how humanity on Earth could disappear
NASA researchers, in collaboration with scientists from Tokyo’s Toho University, conducted extensive computer simulations to determine when life on Earth could completely disappear. The results of their work are published in the LAD Bible.
According to the conclusions, the leading cause of the disappearance will be the gradual transformation of the Sun, which will, over time, expand and raise its temperature, making the Earth uninhabitable. Scientists analyzed more than 400,000 simulations and concluded that this process will occur in about 1 billion years, that is, about 1,000,002,021 years. With such an increase in solar brightness, the oceans will begin to evaporate, and the atmosphere will lose oxygen.
The lead author of the study, Kazumi Ozaki, noted: “The level of oxygen in the atmosphere will decrease to a critical value, which will make the existence of even the simplest forms of life impossible.”
According to scientists, the disappearance of life will not occur suddenly, as in movies, but will be a gradual process lasting hundreds of millions of years. Ultimately, the Earth will resemble lifeless Mercury – without water and atmosphere.
Some processes that indicate future changes on the planet can already be observed today. Experts identify the following alarming signs:
- Increasing solar activity, including flares and coronal emissions;
- Global warming and rapid melting of ice masses;
- Falling oxygen concentration in the atmosphere.
Ozaki emphasized that “the duration of the existence of the biosphere is directly related to the increase in the brightness of the Sun. This is a natural but irreversible process.”
According to scientists, humanity will most likely not live to see this moment. Rising temperatures, the loss of water, and deteriorating air quality will make the Earth uninhabitable even before the atmosphere completely disappears.
