The National Bank predicts an increase in fuel prices: when gas stations will start raising prices

The National Bank of Ukraine predicts that fuel prices in Ukraine will rise until the end of 2025. However, the regulator reassures consumers, assuring that sharp price fluctuations at gas stations should not be expected in the near future.

According to the National Bank, price stability will be maintained due to the postponement of the introduction of the requirement to add bioethanol to gasoline: instead of the planned start on January 1, 2025, the new regulations will come into force only at the beginning of 2026. This decision will help avoid the immediate impact of new requirements on fuel prices in Ukraine this year.

It is known that in 2025 the rate of increase in fuel prices will be moderate and stable, thanks to reduced fluctuations in global oil prices. This will ensure a lower frequency and intensity of price changes in the market.

However, starting in 2026, Ukrainians will face a faster increase in fuel prices, as excise taxes are planned to increase. According to the regulator, the excise tax on gasoline will increase from EUR 271.7 to EUR 300.8 per 1,000 liters, on diesel – from EUR 215.7 to EUR 253.8, and on autogas – from EUR 173 to EUR 198 per 1,000 liters. These changes in excise taxes will significantly affect the final price consumers pay for fuel.

The latest news also indicated that fuel prices could rise by up to 70 hryvnias per liter, and experts offered their predictions.
