The Rada is discussing the mobilization of women: what awaits Ukrainian women
A debate has flared up in Ukraine over the possibility of mandatory mobilization of women, sparking widespread public discussion. People’s Deputy from the European Solidarity party, Iryna Friz, shared her thoughts on this matter.
According to her, the issue of women in the defense sector is being actively discussed among experts and the public. However, no official discussions on the introduction of mandatory mobilization of women are currently underway in the Verkhovna Rada.
“Ukraine already has an effective system of voluntary recruitment of women into military service, which is demonstrating positive results. The number of women in the Ukrainian army exceeds the indicators of many NATO countries. Young women aged 18 to 24 sign contracts under special programs, while women over 25 do so on general terms,” the Deputy explained.
Friz also emphasized that the same rules apply to women serving in the military as to men, including restrictions on traveling abroad. Resignation from service is possible only after the end of martial law or the issuance of a demobilization order.
She emphasized that no bills on the mandatory mobilization of women have been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, and no decisions on this issue have been made by either the General Staff or the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
Commenting on the increased media and social network attention to this topic, Friese noted that this may be due to Russia’s information campaigns aimed at destabilizing Ukraine’s internal situation.
