Flour is disappearing from stores: how bread is getting more expensive
Ukraine is once again experiencing problems with bread supplies: prices are rising, and flour supplies are minimal. Power outages are affecting production, and bakers are sticking to previous prices rather than increasing them at their own expense.
Vice President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers Oleksiy Puchkov pointed to the critical situation with rye flour supplies. Due to power outages, the cost of its production has almost doubled. However, according to him, Ukrainians have not felt this, since producers are forced to offset the price increase at the expense of their profits.
However, this practice will not last long. Experts note that wheat flour prices have already increased by about 30%, and the new harvest has not resolved the situation; on the contrary, prices have risen slightly. Producers complain about the constant rise in the costs of raw materials, energy, and transportation.
Yuriy Duchenko, first vice president of the Bakers Association, noted that bread prices will not increase immediately, but by the end of the year they may rise by 5-10%. The main reasons for this are the increases in the prices of rye flour, energy, and logistics services.
Ukrainian bakeries are trying to maintain prices, realizing that bread is a necessity. But if supply and electricity supply do not normalize, it will be challenging to contain price increases.
Earlier, it was reported that holiday preparations are expected to lead to a significant increase in product prices.
Ukrainians are also actively replenishing potato stocks: about the best time for storage.
Do not forget that popular products in the kitchen can become delicacies: what are the prices for oil expected in the fall?
