The leader of the liquidated party was exposed in fraud over the promise of a mandate for $160 thousand

A 41-year-old man was detained in Kyiv for running for president and promising to make his opponent a member of parliament for $160,000.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has raised suspicions against the man, who headed a previously liquidated political party. His actions constitute attempted fraud under Articles 15 and 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, this Kyiv resident invited people to join his political project, promising them a guarantee of a place on the running list in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada, which, in fact, meant receiving a deputy mandate.

The cost of such a “career start” was $160,000, of which $100,000 was supposedly intended for the entrance fee and $60,000 for the development of the party. The suspect was detained upon receipt of the full amount.

The court chose a preventive measure of detention, with bail set at more than 6 million hryvnias.

The suspect’s official name was not made public. Still, media reports identified him as Valeriy Tokar, the founder and leader of the Garant party, which was liquidated in October 2024 due to document falsification.
