New tariff shock: which utility bill will be increased by almost 20%

New changes are being prepared for Ukrainians regarding garbage collection tariffs. The recalculation will result in higher payments for this service.

Residents of Zhytomyr will have to pay more for the removal of solid household waste. On November 5, 2025, the City Executive Committee adopted a decision to increase tariffs for three transport companies, as reported by the City Council press service.

Head of the Housing Department, Andriy Humenyuk, explained that the competition to determine service providers was held in 2020. Since then, prices have not actually been revised. The previous tariff was approved in 2021, and in August 2022, only a partial correction was made due to rising fuel prices.

Humenyuk noted that in recent years the cost of providing services has increased significantly. Hence, the city had to approve new calculations to allow companies to continue fulfilling their obligations stably.

After the changes, residents of high-rise buildings will pay UAH 64.58 per person, which is 18.6% more than the previous price of UAH 54.43. In the private sector, the tariff will increase from UAH 59.40 to UAH 70.33, a 18.4% increase.

It is worth noting that previously, there were reports of numerous violations in utility payments, which forced Ukrainians to pay for services that do not always correspond to their quality. Currently, Ukrainians are facing difficulties in financing utility services due to rising tariffs and reduced subsidies.
